This color guard camp welcomes beginners, intermediate, and advanced performers alike.

Camp Objectives

  • Develop strong leadership skills to guide your team

  • Practice rehearsal techniques on all three pieces of equipment: flag, rifle, and sabre

Meet Our Coaches

Halcyon is led by renowned educators Adam Sage and Nick Rodriguez. With decades of combined experience in top programs like Carolina Crown, Flanagan HS, and The Pride of Cincinnati, they bring world-class expertise, creativity, and heart to every rehearsal. Their passion for performance and student growth drives everything we do.

  • Adam Sage is an active choreographer, designer, and adjudicator in the pageantry arts. Adam has worked with numerous programs in the southeast including Tarpon Springs High School, East Lake High School, Seminole High School (1993 WGI A class Bronze medalists), Clearwater High School, Kell High School and Pope High School in Marietta, Georgia. Pope High School was the 2000 WGI Open class Silver medalists and the 2002 WGI World class Bronze medalists. Kell High School was the 2005 WGI A class Silver medalist. In addition, Adam also designed for Spanish River High School Winter Guard in Boca Raton, Florida (2009 Winter Guard International Scholastic A Silver medalists).

    Adam’s drum corps experience includes being a performing member of the Suncoast Sound and The Cadets of Bergen County. He has been on the teaching and design teams for several drum corps over the years.  They include the Crossmen, Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard, Phantom Regiment, Carolina Crown, Boston Crusaders, and the Madison Scouts.

    Adam is also actively involved with Winter Guard International (WGI). He was the director of The Company Colour Guard (two time world champions),  Phantom Regiment Winter Guard and CrownGUARD.

    Adam Sage was the director and designer for the Kennesaw Mountain High School Color Guard in Kennesaw, Georgia 2003-2016 (2004 Winter Guard International Scholastic A World Champions, 2005 Winter Guard International Scholastic Open World Champions, 2006 Winter Guard International Scholastic World Class finalists, and the 2013 Winter Guard International Scholastic Open Bronze Medalists).  Sage is currently the artistic director and choreographer for the Yokohama Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in Yokohama, Japan. Adam Sage is the designer and production director for Flanagan High School Winter Guard in South Florida, Walton High School Winter Guard in Marietta, Georgia , and Lockport Township High School Winter Guard in Lockport, Illinois. He is a member of the Southern Association of Performing Arts and Florida Federation of Color Guards Circuit Hall of Fame. 

    Adam in his 27th year in education as a third-grade teacher in Boynton Beach, Florida and resides in Pompano Beach. 

  • Nick Rodriguez, born in Miami and raised in Pembroke Pines, FL, began his color guard journey at Charles W. Flanagan High School, graduating as one of the captains in 2013. He earned multiple medals at WGI World Championships with Flanagan World.

    As an educator, Nick has worked with numerous world-class programs across the US, including Flanagan HS, Miamisburg HS, and Carolina Crown. As a performer, he marched with the Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, Santa Clara Vanguard, and Blue Devils, earning a Silver Medal & two Gold Medals at DCI World Championships. He also performed with The Pride of Cincinnati, winning a WGI Independent World Gold Medal & Bronze Medal.

    Currently, Nick is the Director of Guards and Designer for Flanagan High School Winter & Fall Programs and Co-Founder & Creative Director of Relentless Independent. He is also a Cycling Instructor at CycleBar in Davie, FL, and will be sharing his expertise with the Pacific Crest Organization for the second summer. He lives in Plantation, FL, with his partner, family, and furry friends.

    Teaching color guard isn't just about spinning flags; watching students develop confidence, teamwork, and artistry come to life is everything.. The moments when they nail a new skill or express themselves through movement are pure magic!
