Peter Gomez's journey in the drum corps world began at just 14 years old in San Jose, California, where he marched as a Contra (tuba) player with the Vanguard “B” Corps. He spent two years with the Knight Raiders before joining the Vanguard A Corps, where he won his first DCI Championship. Over the next four summers, Peter also marched with the Concord Blue Devils, ultimately winning three DCI World Championships with both SCV and the Blue Devils.

Peter’s design career took off shortly after high school when he began choreographing winter guards and designing marching band drills. He has worked with renowned programs like Lincoln HS, Clovis West HS, Live Oak HS, Fountain Valley HS, Chino HS, and currently Murrieta Valley HS in Southern California. His drum corps teaching career began in the late '90s with Pacific Crest, followed by roles with the Bluecoats, The Academy, and as the lead visual designer for the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets. Peter also had the honor of being the lead choreographer for the Santa Clara Vanguard during the 2017 Tournament of Roses ceremonies in Pasadena, CA.

With over 35 years of experience, Peter has become a master of visual design and choreography, earning numerous accolades along the way. His work is a seamless blend of music and visual design, crafted in collaboration with top music arrangers and composers.

Today, Peter is the owner and creative director of Halcyon Marching Arts, a leader in color guard camps across the West Coast and Latin America. He has launched camps in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Guatemala, and is a sales representative for Fruhauf Band Uniforms as well as an authorized dealer for DSI.

Peter’s teaching style is built on professionalism, class, and the belief that “preparation is the key to success.” He currently designs marching band programs both nationally and internationally. A graduate of Independence High School in San Jose, where he earned departmental honors in music, Peter also studied Spanish at San Jose State University with a minor in music.

Grateful for the opportunity to inspire young adults, Peter sees the marching arts as a powerful platform for developing future leaders, no matter what path they choose in life.
